Cucamaras left to right: Joe, Josh, Olly and Dan.
Formed in Nottingham, this four-piece provide a perfect blend of Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines and Sundara Karma.
The raw northern vocals mixed with the energetic stage presence is somewhat reminiscence of a young Alex Turner and Co.
Their latest single ‘The Lime Street Liar’ has been chosen as BBC radio Nottingham’s track of the week and it does not disappoint. Evolving from their earlier music, this single introduces vibes inspired by the Libertines and is definitely one for the indie playlist.
With over 11k streams on Spotify in their first year, it is fair to say Cucamaras have started on a good note. Having headlined festivals such as DPP and sold out shows in Sheffield, the foursome are gathering momentum by the minute.
“Every time we play in Nottingham it gets better,” front man Josh explains, “The city has a healthy competitive edge to it that has made us work hard to get into the close-knit community.”
And it has definitely paid off, the band have just announced a gig at one of Nottingham’s most popular venues, The Bodega. “There’s a bit of a hierarchy in Nottingham, it starts at The Maze, moves on to Rough Trade and you eventually work your way up to Rock City.”
Having performed an electric gig at Rough Trade during Nottingham’s ‘Beat the Streets’ festival, Cucamaras have the talent and stage presence to take the UK by storm.
Lime street liar will be released on all streaming platforms, April 10th.
