Sean Pegg, 30, of Mapperley has embarked on a challenge to lose a whopping 8 stone. With Nottingham’s Bierkeller Entertainment Complex promising to donate £400 for every stone Sean loses to the charity, Gem Kids.
‘Gem Radio’s Cash For Kids is a fantastic charity. It uses the money it raises to help children get the help and support they need.’ Says Sean, ‘it’s great to see and hear of the wonderful work they do within the local Nottingham areas.’
He added ‘Being from one of the poorer council estates in Tamworth, I remember what it felt like to not be able to go on school trips and not have the latest clothes so the charity resonates with me from a personal level.’
Sean Cullen, 60, the general manager at Bierkeller says ‘The management group regularly donates money to charities across the UK, so to not only help a charity but one of our longest serving employees too, it was a no brainer.’
After the story hit Bierkeller’s social media accounts, Personal Trainer, Angela Silver, 23, reached out to Sean to provide her services for free ‘she not only set me a gym program but also educates me in nutrition. She is teaching mewhat the body needs and why it needs it.’

Sean explains how being ‘stuck in a rut’ became the biggest inspiration behind his weight loss. ‘I’d wake up, go to work wouldn’t eat all day, finish work, drink 3 or 4 pints a night, grab a takeaway on the way home, then go to bed.’
But PT Angela intends to nip these habits in the bud through a vigorous gym routine and strict meal planning. Sean says, ‘we are in constant contact and it’s great to have that kind of support.’
